    Feeding a Lonely Pixelfed Instance

I stood up a Pixelfed instance with 364 posts and 4 follows. My global timeline was a ghost town. Pixelfed doesn't support relays. Here's how I solved it with a shell script, some API calls, and a lesson in how ActivityPub actually works. The problem Pixelfed federates over ActivityPub like

    favicon

    mauveRANT (rant.mvh.dev)

    #pixelfed #fediverse #activitypub #selfhosted #mastodon #docker #scripting

@mauvehed@defcon.social very cool! Love the hacker ethos coming through in the blog post.

I wonder if fedibuzz (by @astro@c3d2.social) has something you could consume. Then you don't have to go instance by instance. It is a relay however.

Aww heck yeah @astro@c3d2.social coming through ftw!

I think I can use this API too, to backfill when a new hashtag is followed on my end 🙂

@julian @astro I need to eventually come back to this to add more ongoing synchronization of people I follow on prayer AP services as well as hashtags
