Do I have anyone here I can commission to do a book cover? My normal artist, I think, is too busy at the moment and the poor guy will work himself to death rather than let anyone down.
@jonn_blanchard What are you hoping for in terms of style?
I can do comic book & fine art styles.
This is a cover from my own comic which was done a few years ago. I can work in a few styles.

@jonn_blanchard I know a couple artists (literally, they're a couple). I asked them about availability, we'll see what - if anything - comes of it.

@jonn_blanchard I know a young woman with a masters degree who doesnβt have a full-time job and is even pet sitting for extra money. I would like to refer you to her. I think sheβs good but Iβm not an artist.
Iβm checking with her to see if she has something I can post for you from her portfolio. I also suggested she joined Mastodon. -
@retech The book is a comedy fantasy set partly in the modern world, partly in an Orc dimension connected to a portal - featuring a sandwich shop owner who finds out he's destined to be the protector of earth with the help of his accountant, Susan

οΈI wrote a book years ago and hired an illustrator. He did good work, but it cost $300 against the net book sales of $10 (at best). Art is hard, I get that, and when I release music, the best I have ever earned from a track is about $150. I'm pretty much forced to use my own photos for covers.

@jonn_blanchard Depends, how shitty do you want it to look, my friend? My kids have some crayons, pencils, and pens, but I have very little artistic talent. We could probably whip something up. My going rate is $3.50 for the whole thing, soup to nuts.

I should have put more of a steer in, but I was going for brevity. The book is a comedy-fantasy set in the modern world and also an Orc dimension 200 years in the past that's joined with a portal. The heroes are a sandwich shop owner destined to be earths defender and his accountant Susan. The art style i'm seeing in my head is like Josh Kirby's work for Terry Pratchett - but that's probably because Terry is one of my inspirations

I should also add that i'm not interested in AI generated art, if I was I could just go and use one of the websites myself.
