That's why it's Cymru, not Wales, because Wales and Welsh is from the Anglo-Saxon for foreigner! Yet the Angles and Saxons were invaders that displaced Celtic Britons to Wales.
John Dee suggested to Q E I that England (Angle Land) be regarded as British in the French court to bolster a claim to America. Ironically based on a supposed voyage of a Welsh Prince.
