We're told to use AI at work.

We're told to use AI at work. If I weren't three years from retirement, I'd be looking for a new job. Instead I've decided to use it as much as possible to drive the cost up and the code quality down. It's not as if I care if the shit shop goes under once I'm out.
@fesshole I wonder how many people do something similar ...

@fesshole Think of it as job creation for a generation of contractors after you who will be well paid to fix all this sloppy shite in a few years time

@fesshole if you're lucky, you'll be made redundant and leave early with a payout.

Three years from retirement and being told to use AI is such a specific kind of frustration. The people making these decisions rarely have to deal with the consequences of adopting tools they barely understand themselves

I saw a nice comment recently: "he'd be thrown off any social network he didn't own."

@fesshole Why is there so much hate towards coding with AI tools? Some models are excellent at the job. Yes, you review more code than you write, but it’s still important work. It’s just a new tool (or perhaps a revolutionary one) to help us out.

@apqlzm @fesshole I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but from my complete outside perspective:
1. AI is overhyped. this is a fact. The entire industry is nearly 1 trillion USD in the hole for a market that is the size of smartwatches.
2. The bosses are the one's being sold on this tech and are being told "it can do /anything/ make you 100% more productive" so bosses are buying it and telling people: "be %100 more productive now"
3. Being forced to use a tool doesn't mean it will be helpful. -

@joonq I usually say that if AI was a entry-level programmer you'd have fired them before lunchtime due to the amount of errors it makes and handholding it needs.
