@owashe@meow.social omg how i would've loved to have been a fly on the wall hearing you go through those recordings

reminds me of when you brought that up when i posted about youtube's community captions. both great ideas in theory, each with their own pitfalls in practice

@ericjames Honestly most of it was pretty uninteresting, fixing typos and maybe a missed word or two. But there were some gems, like the time a gentleman with a very heavy Chinese accent said "set a reminder to buy a birthday card" but whoever did the initial transcription didn't understand the pronunciation differences (I don't think there's a "th" in Chinese so it came out as "s") wrote down "set a reminder to buy a prostate pop"

      5. What is your biggest turn on?

      A light-switch!

      Nah, it's paws, unsurprisingly. 🐾

        6. What was your first job?

First paid-to-do-a-task thing was mowing the lawn as a teenager, but first hired-by-a-company role was working as a contract data analyst for Amazon regarding the Echo (which was called Project Knight at the time). Basically, my role was to transcribe audio and check the transcriptions that others had done for accuracy. I lasted about six months before I couldn't stand hearing the children of beta testers constantly screaming into the microphone anymore.

        7. What was the last song you sang?

Last night I sang along with the Ninja Sex Party cover of "What a Fool Believes" by The Doobie Brothers on the way home from dinner with my husband.

          8. What is one of your most treasured memories?

When I met my husband (then boyfriend) in person for the first time. He drove like 600 miles to where I live, went to a motel, he opened the door and I clung to him and was like "Holy shit you're actually here I can't believe you're here!" Then I spent the next several nights with him.

              9. What has overwhelmed you recently?

Recent health issues that left me barely able to function during the worst of it. I'm past that point, thank dog, but the worst of it was /bad./

                  10. Someone gave you $100, what are you spending it on?

In the past I probably would have immediately spent it on a video game or something, but now I'd most likely save it for a rainy day.

                    11. What makes you feel appreciated?

When my husband decides to fuss over me, and when others take the time to reach out to me when I'm having a rough go of things.

Also (technically speaking for a headmate here, plural system whee) when we write a story and it gets positive comments. Always a nice feeling :3

                          12. Do you have trust issues?

Not really. I recall there were times when I had a lot of trust breaches in quick succession and couldn't really trust anyone, but they didn't last long. Usually I have the opposite problem of being /too/ trusting.

                            13. Best concert you've ever been to?

I've been to two concerts. One was a B-52's concert from when I was maybe 8 or something and I don't remember any of it. The best one is the one I remember from back in high-school: Dragonforce, and I saw it with my friend and his dad. Said dad was (I shit you not) Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith, and he had Star Privileges or something and we got to meet the band in the green room before the show. In all honesty, that's the only part I remember beyond the fact that we were watching from a balcony thing (not a VIP thing, just second floor) and the band told the entire mosh pit on the first floor to give the second floor the middle finger, which they did without hesitation.

                              14. Do you care what other people think of you?

Not as much as I used to, but probably a bit more than I should. Keeping in mind that the majority of my interactions are online these days: I don't get as self-conscious if someone doesn't respond to something right away, but I still have frequent moments where I feel self-conscious about something I typed out and decide to delete it (posts here on Fedi, for instance).

                              It's a work in progress

                                    16. Describe your dream home.

I'm not really picky about space and decorations as long as I have my own room and the necessities, but my dream home would be self-cleaning and the automated systems responsible for it would be cooperative, reliably functional, not held at the mercy of a parent company and requiring an internet connection, and not likely to turn hostile against organics.

                                        18. If you could get on a plane tomorrow, where would you go?

In general I'm not sure, I used to travel a lot when I was younger and I've since lost my taste for it. My husband lived in Ireland for a while many years ago and liked it a lot so maybe there would be nice :3

Tomorrow specifically: my husband and I are driving back home to Pennsylvania after visiting my parents (I had an urgent and last minute appointment nearby) so I'd just fly there instead.

@owashe@meow.social holy fuck you're somewhat related to someone famous!

iirc my high school counselor's relative's relative (don't remember which) is singer
matthew koma, who's been featured on a couple EDM hits from the 2010s

elsewhere, my mom's relative's brother got to be a set designer/architect on a
netflix series based on a colombian novel. said set designer isn't famous per se, but it's worth something i guess
