    @kimu @MsHearthWitch

As a Canuck when folks mentioned weather I immediately thought cold where you can add layers. Heat is a completely different matter.

@the5thColumnist @kimu Yeah cold and rain I can easily deal with. I grew up in Northern BC, "The cold doesn't bother me anyways..."

But the heat is an active danger for me (I get actual heat stroke with all the fun side effects just from doing too much inside). So all the "just dress for the weather!" folks in my mentions can get bent lmao

@MsHearthWitch@wandering.shop it's amazing what having a single bubble outside the Corpo-shere does to a motherfucker, honestly. Fedi has done some very similar things for me.

@airikr @hermannus Yeah, I wasn't kidding when I said I struggle with The Weather. The last few summers have been blindingly hot WITH 90% and higher humidity for days on end. I can barely function in my house with AC, I cannot imagine biking.

@MsHearthWitch @hermannus Yeah, the climate is no joke during the summer season 😕 I don't have any AC (yet) and my apartment tend to get quite hot (around 23 C, normally around 19 C). Thankfully, I have a ceiling fan 😅

@MsHearthWitch@wandering.shop honestly, looking at how many people still chose bsky over fedi with the most flimsy-ass excuses possible, I feel like the only people who actually make it over here are the people who are sick of the corpo-sphere.

            Mind you, I'm not saying
everyone who uses bsky is simply doing so with flimsy excuses, just that there's a lot of people who did.

@IceWolf @MsHearthWitch I didn't have the stamina either, but I built it up quickly. Electric would def be handy if it was a super regular thing for me but currently it's not. (it is for my mate now tho)

@colinstu @MsHearthWitch Oh yeah, chronic fatigue wolves here, "just exercise" won't help heh. :3 I imagine it'd also be easier to use a regular bike if we'd had a road bike instead of the thiccest, shittiest mountain bike out there. (Okay, it could probably be worse. It's freakin' heavy though.)

@colinstu @IceWolf Yeah I see the appeal of electro BUT one of the reasons I am thinking about it is for the fitness aspect. I don't currently see myself doing very long treks. Just little pop rounds to local cafes or parks.

@MsHearthWitch @colinstu Oh yeah, if it's a fitness thing, non-electric's probably the way to go! But even if you do go electric, it's still pretty great for you. You still have a lot of balancing, gets your muscles going without all the aerobic exercise that makes us collapse.

@MsHearthWitch @colinstu Plus, like, fresh air and shit!

I honestly wonder how much of "going on walks is good for your health" is "getting outside and going into the outside world is good for your health" (compared to just being in buildings + cars all the time). Of course the light exercise probably does help too. Maybe we just have a different threshold of "light exercise" than people who can take a 30 minute walk and not be exhausted after.

@IceWolf @colinstu Oh for SURE. Even when I don't go for walks I try and make a point of just standing outside for at least 5 min and feeling some form of natural light on my face.

Since I joined I have ditched most subscription stuff like Spotify, Amazon and Netflix.

                                        Made the swap to Linux.

                                        Started painting.

Now I am considering whether or not I could be a Person Who Bikes Places.

@MsHearthWitch it's fun, the level of discomfort/exhaustion it comes with will correlate with how hilly your route is though.

Biking on flat land is much less work than rolling hills.
