@peter All I can say as a 30-year tech participant, is I agree with you about the current state of things, and I believe there is still a foundation of principled work out there. Some people really want it and care about it; there's just a huge amount of noise overshadowing those people right now. I truly believe it's temporary, but I also sympathize with anyone moving to work outside the industry. I've had similar thoughts myself.

There are news stories I remember - ones that back leftwing points of view - that are just gone now, it seems.
And articles about regular stuff are all written by AI and full of just wrong information.

@peter there is still hope. As we are very niche and the Systems are very proprietatory we need to teach it. No AI. The Young ones are good and want to learn. Yes, we are falling back to books, to hands on sessions. Old books, but these are our new seniors. We have to teach them our skills and they want to learn.

@peter speaking of, I just spent some time noodling around with local Mac LLM (via Apfel) just to see if it can do some simple things and it made me so sad that I want to close my laptop and play with my synthesizer. At least synths do what they're supposed to lol

@peter I am forced to use AI in my work, or I am left behind. I still keep the quality under control and. But everywhere I see, the hustle culture... No respect to the arts, just ship it and deploy it...
I have lost my joy to code, and all my fascination with computers in last 2 years.
