My banking app is suddenly really keen about scams when I try to send people money.

I have to answer questions like

    - Was this a sudden request from someone on social media?

    - Have you called the person directly to check the request is genuine?

    - Are they pressuring you to give money quickly?

Which is great! Except I had a colleague send a message to everyone yesterday asking for donations for a gift for the person who just had a baby.

I know this because she was sitting in front of me when she did it. So I *did* get a sudden request online. I did *not* call to verify it because she was sitting right there. And there *was* a time pressure because the baby is now here.

So now I've learnt to lie to all of those questions otherwise you get a big warning sign saying YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED.

@miffyhelen Every single fucking month I have to lie to my business bank account because there is no way to say “this is a salary payment, I’ve been paying this person (myself) from this account every month for the last 25 years and if it was a scam I think I’d have worked that out by now”.

I can’t even pay HMRC, who have their own sort codes so I can’t be paying anyone other than the government to accounts under them, without triggering the scam warnings. The system is all scary flashing lights and no actual protection.
