@theogrin I've often considered it but - regrettably - they're all designed to break away at the base.

Maybe we can find some way to make it work. Fill them with rancid cheese or something that'll strip the paint from any car that hits them.
(I'm just throwing out ridiculous notions rather than suggesting that actual harm come to the property of people who would be happy to run over kids if they didn't get caught.)
