Anthropic works with Palantir, they use SpaceX's Memphis gas generators, they displace labor, they're a goddamned military contractor. They are *very* firmly on the causing problems on purpose side of the line.

@xgranade OK but which AI provider is NOT dirty?

            Or... LEAST dirty?

@violetmadder @xgranade granted. But if I am going to use one anyway, as a tool for Doing Good, which one is least awful? There must be a way to answer this question.

@aburka @kahomono @violetmadder @xgranade what about self hosted solutions? Like having a machine at home instead of using the ones provided by big tech

                  (Honest question)

@realestninja @aburka @violetmadder @xgranade At this time, the large operations have overbought the market for memory, GPUs, CPUs and disk. To the point that you and I can ill afford to build a decent box to run an AI model at home.
