It's insane that companies can have shit security, then leak your data and send an email with "Oops, we're sorry for leaking all your data" and that's it; nothing happens after that.

It's insane that companies can have shit security, then leak your data and send an email with "Oops, we're sorry for leaking all your data" and that's it; nothing happens after that.
There ought to be something like the National Transportation Safety Board that forensically investigates data breaches-- not to identify the hackers, exactly, but to go through the whole decision tree that led to the exposure of customer/client data. AND, then there should be criminal penalties for executives if by their negligence or willful behavior, they contributed to the breach.

@neppy I agree that the csuite should be held accountable. Alot of corporate crime and miss management would disappear rather quickly. Shame our politicians are too spineless to implement such a system.

How about every time they have a data leak, they have to publish their own personal information that matches what was leaked. Birthdate, address, emails, phone and credit card details and passwords. Don’t forget the passwords.
