@pborenstein This reminds me of a comment I overheard in a restaurant recently. A couple of youngsters were remarking how cool the background music was. “So fresh and original, these guys are great!”, said one of them.
The track was a remix of Sade’s “Smooth Operator”, a 42-year-old song.
LLMs are doing text remixing and people think it’s original stuff.
Sigh.

@pborenstein OmG, I get this all the time too! More than 100k pages of my work were slurped into llm training, some of us spent our lives learning and perfecting technical communication, only to have it stolen, devalued and served back to us as new and improved.

@pborenstein Tangential to this. I wonder what would happen if I went back to school and took some CS classes, and then was accused of plagiarizing my own code.
