For years there have been concerns that one or more English universities might fall into administration.
In the past when this has looked to be a real prospect, mergers & take-overs of vulnerable institutions have been stage managed by regulators;
but now, it would seem with so many institutions in various level of difficulty, the 24 institutions most at risk are more likely to close than to be rescued via consolidation.
Things are getting grim in HE!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce3p93j3823o@ChrisMayLA6 the second Labour came into power they could have 1. taken students out of immigration statistics and 2. reversed the restrictions on student visas. Not ideal, but this would have provided funds to tide some of those IHEs over. They did neither, in pursuit of racist Reform voters, and destroyed themselves alongside those unis.
And now they are wondering why their voting base has collapsed. -

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce3p93j3823o@ChrisMayLA6 Is there a list anywhere of which universites are most at risk of default?
Horryfying prospects, but this was a willed policy, and thus not entirely surprising. HE was supposed to manage on it's own.

I would imagine UCU has a list; whether its public or not is another matter

This another failure of systemic domination. I for one am tired of expecting anything different or even blaming the individuals and systems responsible. My point being we the majority need to be in any parallel polis we can see developing. -
