    Martin Wolf (FT) on how the world see the USA (right now):

    'What is far clearer now... is that the US is no longer a credible world leader. If it can elect this man twice, it has lost the plot. Why would it not elect someone even worse? Such a country is incapable of providing reliable global hegemony. What it provides instead is an unpredictable wrecking ball'...

    and hence, as I've remarked before, the slow but sure pivot away from the USA as an economic partner is well underway!

    @ChrisMayLA6 Pivoting away will not be enough. There must be an all-of-society active defence.

      @anarchademic @ChrisMayLA6 There’s a square in my strategic assessment for: US declares victory and leaves, Iran assures safety for all transport conducted in CNY, end of petrodollar and everyone moves along.

        @ChrisMayLA6
        If he claims victory and the US just leaves, that would be a win for all.
        But I doubt it'll happen.

        @Gurre @ChrisMayLA6

        I think it is entirely possible.

        He has no stamina, no attention span, and he is really mad no one is coming to clean up his mess.

        It would be very in character to just break the world economy and then storm off in a huff blaming everyone else for his mistakes.

                  @ChrisMayLA6 not only in economy, also look at NATO. He's trying to blackmail EU States to commit to his war and invasion of Iran. His threat: no more support for Ukraine if Europe does not support him. What a moron!
                  He wants to cut up NATO, or at least it's nothing to him to do so.

                    @ChrisMayLA6 The US as a functioning democracy is for all intents and purposes, done.

                    It will continue on like a bloated whale corpse in a current for a decade or two, but it being a 50/50 shot to regress every 4 years means it will break up. At some point the Red state minority will have to enact measures so onerous the Blue will simply leave.

                        Me too, anything that puts the Tangerine Tyrant further from the EU is fine with me. Although maybe hit the brakes in that section with Canada?
