@drmaddkap I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it, but I've been enjoying it, especially the most recent episode, written by Tawny Newsome. The kids are the appropriate amount of annoying to be realistically kids that age. But there's depth coming through too. And it's got Jett Reno in it, which is always a plus. Tig Nutaro always makes me laugh.

@drmaddkap Thought it wouldn't be for me, but tried the pilot. Too soon to tell so far. Have heard other people who were really negative at first start to come around on it.

Starfleet Academy:
@drmaddkap Watched it. Can I love/hate it? But really. "This is kid shit. I'm pro kid shit" 🫠It's for kids and I'm a 43 yo kid.
Truth is I'm gonna watch it like I'll likely watch anything in the franchise and there are parts, moments and characters that I love, but I'll never watch it again. While I've watched TNG, DS9, Voyager, Lower Decks through over 5 times each so...I hate it.

Starfleet Academy:
@drmaddkap It has moments of brilliance and also some really questionable choices. I will keep watching it out of curiosity.

Starfleet Academy:
Thought it would be worth checking out even if flawed. It is flawed, but not terrible.

Starfleet Academy:
@drmaddkap How about, "it's fine". Better than Discovery, anyway.

Starfleet Academy:
@drmaddkap Came in not committed one way or another. Watched the first three and I would say it's good and I like it but I wouldn't go further than that.
It's following the relatively standard teen drama tropes but in a Star Trek setting. Characters are interesting with some fun variations and interactions. To its credit it's avoided the emo-trek vibe and monologuing of Discovery.
There may be room for it to become a great show but it's not there yet.

Starfleet Academy:
@drmaddkap some of us do not watch TV ...

Starfleet Academy:
@drmaddkap Don’t love it, and don’t hate it. There’s many Trek’y elements there, mixed with teen drama about a bunch of too pretty and well toned “kids” trying to find their place in the world, like in most of those drama-series.
I accept that I don’t belong among the target audience and would probably have bailed if it wasn’t for Picardo, Notaro, Hunter etc.I still would take both Lower Decks and Prodigy over this any day.

@drmaddkap It's meh but has potential, will continue watch first season. -
