It's a piece half the length of the main collar which covers it and takes the wear and tear and can be removed or replaced. I  add a little extra something - the fold of spare fabric hidden in the collar, that stiffens it, and also is there for repair. <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/sewing" rel="tag">#<span>sewing</span></a></p>
