I had a wakeful night, so I decided to enjoy the dawn chorus. I think my local birds had called in sick:

A tetchy (European) robin, ticking not singing;
A distant blackbird;
A passing herring gull.

No matter, I thought, there's always the dusk chorus:

One blackcap.
Ho hum.
