Endemic just means (basically) that something is here to stay, not that it is not benign. (Malaria is endemic to many parts of the world, but it is not benign.) COVID-19 sure does look like it is here to stay.

Also, as I'm sure you know, endemic doesn't mean "safe" (but it does mean safer).

I went for my last shot a month ago and was told that they will soon be going to giving it once a year along with the flu shot.
