Riding the train between Sorrento and Pompeii (which is near the far shore to the right of Vesuvius in my photo) you see hillsides &amp; cliffs composed of layer after layer of volcanic material. With my geologist eyes I looked at the city of Naples across the way knowing that it’s situated in a very dangerous &amp; precarious place.
