I find it’s just like cable, only larger and more inconvenient, and it detaches easily plus shit gets hot to the touch.

I've always just charged my phone overnight, so it doesn't really make sense for me, but I get why people like it

However, my personal phone also has a magnet for a Nite Ize Steelie (https://niteize.com/mobile/steelie) car mount on the back, so that one doesn't work on the pad.

I think this depends on the user experience & technical stuff. Magsafe chargers that keept things more in place, but intentionally it's easy to detach are a lot better (I don't have that).

Without that the alignment is crap, and that should give you more heat issues.

Also whether phone hardware is really compatible with various chargers -- some vendors are worse than others. But that also can be done welll.

The only wireless charger I use (rarely) is the one built into my car. Otherwise it's just the most convenient USB-C cable.
