I don't go above -12LUFS, but the material determines the final levels.
I do mastering on the side and I have this piano track that is challenging me. Beefing it up to match the other tracks sounds "good," but the impact is softened (literally).
I think I'm going to go with the more dynamic version, as the target media is cassette tape.

this probably has turned off some listeners who expect everything cranked but whatever.
