Generations later their descendants used those long legs to mimic covered bridges and returned to their ancestors' strategy of lying patiently in wait to devour unsuspecting vehicles. Here we see one of the last tattered survivors of that line. It's a gorgeous shot; rarely were they ever caught in the open.

This used to be a bridge covered with houses and shops but the bridge was found to be too expensive to be maintained and therefore was scheduled to be proactively demolished.

While the government was trying to acquire all the properties on the bridge to be able to demolish it there was one that refused to budge and wouldn't give up their property.
They even went to court and won. So the government continued demolishing everything except their property.

This is actually two items. The metal scaffolding is an abandoned shed-launcher, still loaded and ready to shoot. Shed-launchers were superseded by Marmite cannons because sheds tended to fall apart before impact with the enemy.
