Around here we have them on lots intersections of main roads that still aren't highways - so they'll still be on the route for lots of folks walking to school or the grocery store or whatever.

I've been hit by cars twice - once on foot, once on my bike, not hard enough to get badly hurt either time - and they were both in that situation. Right turn slip lanes make that situation worse and IMO having a right turn slip lane in any place with sidewalks is civil engineering malpractice.
