Meta said Thursday it plans to lay off roughly 10% of its workforce, or about 8,000 people, the latest in a string of industry fueled in part by .

The company is also closing around 6,000 open roles, Janelle Gale, Meta’s chief people officer, wrote in a memo published by Bloomberg.

The layoffs will go into effect on May 20.

The profit model is not monthly subscriptions…it is layoffs.

"Chief People Officer?" Who talks or thinks like that?

Corporations are addicted to hiding actions they've wanted to take for some time behind the latest fad or catastrophe.

Laying off 10% of your work force is a big deal. It should not have come as a surprise to competent management, who've been pushing AI since its inception.

Meta's management is either incompetent or aimed for this outcome from the start.
