I have to sliiiiightly tap and move it by millimeters. And when the hot water in the boiler gets lower, adjust it again and again. 😅

and yes the usable mixing range is usually smaller than what we desire lol

They do have temperature controlled button-like fauset nowadays, where you tune a knob for temperature, supposedly it's something like a double metal band type of passive thermostat that adjusts the mixture, I used it a few times in the past, they seems to work better than what I expected.
