Just take heart that there's activists, especially in environmental fields, who plugged away at shit for decades, ignored the zeitgeist, and achieved results

This is not a subtle dig at other activists. This is just my own effort not to get trapped in a world that no longer exists and to make pragmatic decisions based on where we are now.
