Some one please convince me otherwise. Thinking of trying Stormux X86, which is an X86-64 version of Stormux, which is almost pure Arch but Stormux script helps set things up. I mean I use it at work just fine, and Firefox works well enough with Google Docs and Salesforce. And the ISO was updated on April 20. I38 is pretty darn nice, it's an accessibility addon to the I3 window manager, and Orca will have addon support soon.

I don't know why I do this to myself. Ubuntu for stable but slightly less outdated accessibility. Same for Linux Mint. Fedora for near bleeding edge accesibility. Arch for most updated but harder to set up. Stormux is based on Arch but has a setup script for setting up accessibility and such. So basically Fedora for easier setup and Arch for more advanced setup.

pixelate@tweesecake.social

Reply to Oh no y'all, I'm really thinking about trying Linux on my Lenovo laptop again. on Wed, 29 Apr 2026 09:53:18 GMT

@erici @pixelate @storm This discussion is in the context of the best distro for usage with a screen reader such as Orca. For blind folks it can be very hit and miss which distro has the best experience with Orca due to many reasons.
