was just doing some moving stuff a bit & noticed the 1-8 (shown as 1-4/5-8) & looked up the VLZ3... glancing at the 3, it looks identical unless i'm missing something. maybe something on the back's changed maybe, face looks to have the exact same functionality.

I haven't bought patch bays yet, but I've tried to map out how to leverage the direct outs, etc. in order to be able to route signals into my MOTU 828 and then have the first 8 channels on the desk be the 8 outs from the MOTU so i can mix down to 2 track (that part is also still TBD). I want to create the most flexible "set it and forget it" config that I can.

Works a treat!

no limitations or issues yet other than it's not got a digital aspect. ideally it would be this exact mixer w/ it also hooked up to Ableton for multitrack recording (since i'm dreaming: w/ SD card on the mixer doing multitrack!)

However, it's the 8-bus model and am I correct that they went down to 4-bus on the VLZ4?

What limitations/issues are you running up against with it?
