A service manual with schematics and a visual diagram of parts placement shows a company welcomes repairability. When I had purchasing input in my working life, capital equipment costs were often secondary to repairability. It goes to total cost over the lifetime of the device

Visual cues and tool-free disassembly aren’t necessary. They ARE very nice-to-haves, however. Being able to open a device with just a few screws is vitally important. I’d also like to see the world go back to removable batteries that install with a set of contacts vs some type of ribbon or other connector.

The thing I stumble on most often is being able to reassemble something I've taken apart and diagnosed, but in the taking-apart, I've done something I can't undo (or at least not with new parts or consumables).
