2. Albums are one person's island.
3. Face recognition doesn't cross users
4. No combined family timeline
5. No "what's new since I last looked"

Immich works great for single users, but as soon as you try and share an instance with your family, you start noticing all the shortcomings. I've tackled a lot of those shortcomings in https://opennoodle.de with shared spaces 🙂

For me it was starting with pictures. I installed Immich and move my family off of Google/Apple for image sync. Then files for me, so I selected NextCloud. Then see what you have left going to big tech, rinse and repeat.

Also, I highly recommend an AI programming assistant like Claude Code or OpenAI Codex. It can greatly improve your IT abilities! In the last few months I have setup , , , , , , , , , , , and .

I want to host my own websites etc. AI is being implemented in web security without human oversight and people without community guidelines violations are being automatically and permanently banned without communication or justification. I don't want to lose my data when Skynet becomes self aware lol
