I'm not intolerant but I've always found cow milk... Weird.<br />Good milky oat milk though? Doesn't go DISGUSTING when it's been in the fridge a week, now I'm used to it in tea, non-vegan stuff is weird. It's whatever you're used to. Giving up Cheese and Ice Cream about did me in emotionally / spiritually but it was that or being in constant pain.</p><p>Other than doing Milk and Pretzels I seldom if ever drank Milk in adulthood…and none of the liquid plant milks are even close to the cow juice experience…but great for cooking .</p><p>A year before I stopped dairy started drinking my coffee “straight, no creme”. I hope your friends and family are as accommodating as mine are when having you over for dinner.</p><p>Irrespective of vegans pushing for healthier/etc. alternatives, brands cheaping out and not using real butter has a side benefit that more snack foods are lactose free, like Ritz crackers and some pie crusts that use shortening. Instead of assuming sensitization, I took the "let's see if habituation works" approach and spent a month drinking twice as much milk every day. Kosher labeling is your friend. Look for some form of a K and a P or the word Parve. Parve means “ neither milk or meat” and in this case the kosher labeling means there really isn’t any dairy or lactose. Odds are good you will be OK with goat or sheep cheese. ( It’s a different protein from cow and most lactose intolerant people are ok with it ).  And there are some good goat cheeses. After adding lactase to cleave the sugar I can't digest, the milk is filtered in a way that removes the excess sugar and keeps it from tasting weirdly sweet.</p><p>The result tastes more like milk than anything vegan I've tried.
