This is the central irony of Israeli government belligerence. By violently oppressing the just cause of Palestinians it creates future generations implacably opposed to Israel; by attacking its neighbours it ensures they see Israel as their enemy, and build up their own military; by attempting to maintain its nuclear advantage it forces its already alienated neighbours into nuclear armament.

A sane Israeli government would end its apartheid, treat Palestinians justly, pour resources into Palestinian communities to ensure economic security, work with its neighbouring countries to marginalise extremists, etc, etc...

"So, a war that was launched in significant part to preserve Israel's nuclear monopoly in the Middle East is likely to end it"...

... because, if Iran develops a nuclear weapon, other countries in the region - Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt - will follow suit.
