There is a book I read in my teens that is actually comedy, "Da Vinci's recipe notebook" or something like that. It starts from the reality of medieval gastronomy and tells that Da Vinci invented nouvelle cuisine. Because the author wasn't known at all in Spain, it was advertised as authentic. I would serve recipes from the book.
