Replace the screen (DIY + $500/parts)<br />2. New entry-level Macbook Air (~$1k)<br />3. More full-featured Air (~$1.5k)</p><p>If the replacement screen was cheaper, it'd be a no-brainer. For a 5 year old device... less so.</p><p>Having used a  few modern Macbook Airs recently, I can't imagine buying a Pro even for heavy dev use again. It's just not necessary. I have an M1 Macbook Pro and a very recent maxed-out Mac Mini and I feel almost no difference, the M1 is already that fast.
