Yes, talent and hard work did and stll can help cut fame’s path.</p><p>But privilege, opportunity, and some of that opportunity mere chance, have also always dominated. As has selective collective memory.</p><p>Opportunity and biased history, that’s also mostly privilege. Alfred Nobel, not Alice Ball. Blackbeard, not Ching Shih. JO Waldner, not Deng Yaping. Johnny Carson, not Victor Borge.
