Every time I read something from a school setting, I'm so fucking glad I've been out of school in general for over a decade.

Schooling can be amazing, but often times here in the States it's just people power-tripping because they have such massive insecurities. The fact that using singular they/their gets someone marked off on a report, or a foreign exchange student spelling "Color" as "Colour" (ESPECIALLY when referring to a book that is definitively titled with the word spelled Colour) gets them point deductions, etc. is just insane to me.

And respecting someone's pronouns, even if they're unusual, shouldn't ever be a deduction either.

School is just way too authoritarian.
