The morning readings both spoke to making choices. Whether to worship or defy whatever deity on the one hand and choosing how to respond to an unexpected event on the other.

I choose calm.

I don't always achieve it. Sometimes I get overwhelmed, swept away in the flow. Spun senseless in the maelstrom.

But I still try for it because the alternative is surrender.

That just seems pointless.
