A lot of folks here on the fediverse understand all tech being political, and our decision to not want to engage with corporate social media (despite bsky's attempts to cosplay as decentralized social media, that's what it truly is) is a political decision, and the only way for us to not get into the same situation as twitter (among other things inflicted by the tech industry) all over again is for us to use and support community owned and operated social networks.

I wish Emily and BC Greens understood this, and had instead chosen to make this account her main home (and attempted to nudge folks on bluesky and elsewhere to the fediverse instead).

Further, where you post is not a neutral decision. By aligning yourself with a US corporate network, while abandoning public social media, you are sending a message, and this message seems in direct contravention of the ideals you and your organization espouse.

On the chance you are still reading this account, perhaps it would be good to share an example of someone else who's work was much loved and valued, @GottaLaff. Several months ago she made a similar decision, although she still posts here occasionally. Not sure how much of her audience over here now follows her Bsky bridged account, but can definitely say that it was a blow for many who valued her as a member of this community when she left. A bridged account is not the same thing.

I would love to be able to follow Emily, but some of us have opted not to bridge another US venture capital and crypto funded, vibe-coded, centralised business to our instances.

It's a shame you decided not to go the other direction - fediverse account bridged over to wherever.

If you found your engagement on the fediverse wasn't what you'd hoped, it's likely a good part of it is that announcement-only accounts are pretty well sniffed out and from what I've seen, aren't likely to get terribly engaged with when there's nobody there to engage with.

I follow very few #Bluesky accounts because there's no possibility of interaction. The OP will never see any responses and I don't believe they can be quote-boosted.

There are many reasons people here do not follow Bluesky accounts, so you are abandoning a good portion of your community.
