Once I'm outside my local repeater zone, I have 520 on one channel, 580 on the other in the car. </p><p>I've been calling while travelling lately on 520, and have yet to ever get a comeback. I hailed, nothing. I pulled up alongside, tried to get their attention and failed. Pulled out in front of them so they could see my obvious call plates and tried hailing again. That's our local central Oregon simplex frequency and the PNW SOTA frequency. Usually monitoring/scanning on the local FM and DMR repeaters with just the HT for local quick trips (but it cycles through 146.52 too).
