I never felt a greater sense of belonging
than when sitting on a train
meeting eyes that are also longing
for something more
Connection.
Next stop, misdirection.
I travel the world
just to try and find
a place that feels like home
and peace of mind.
Meanwhile, I’m reminded of
the comfort of familiar strangers.
We quickly dart our eyes away
but cherish that brief moment
of vulnerability.
I know you see what I see,
potential in a perfect stranger,
looking flawless
sitting across from me,
a mirror image
of the soul inside of me.
