This bed is finished, and is what I think is the ultimate layout: two big toms (Taiga, Midnight Sun) plus four smalls (Estonian) with Swanson's medium nugget mulch. If that mulch ever gets discontinued, I will have a crisis on my hands. It's all I use!

Spent mushroom compost, used straight, may have too high a 'salts' level for some plants.

And while I could plant in pure mushroom compost, I don't think that's the best idea? (Or is it???)

Is it similar at all to what you use?
(that specific mulch comes from a local nursery, so it's a good point of reference for me)

(And yes, share away! Might not be able to respond if needed for a while though, I'm still planting.)

Related... may I link to your post to ask someone else here about their thoughts on it? They advised on using bark or woodchips, and I want to compare with a local example.
