I’ve definitely had really good vegan brownies before; I think the problem here was just that they figured what the heck and dropped the substitute in without actually adjusting the recipe around it.

The oils separated completely and they got a weird sludge that became increasingly tar-like as it cooled. I referred to them as “vibe-coded brownies,” and everybody was just like “ha, yep”
