There are small drainage holes in the bottom of the drainpipes, I don't know why there's no plants in the bottom tier (I let the other half do all the planting).</p>

Sandy well-packed soil, put the plant as deep as you can, NOT in daylong full sun. Partial shade actually works better. You can put both in a pot and just stand (or hang) them somewhere with a lot of light.
