Remember "pivot to video"?

Remember "pivot to video"? When Facebook lied about how popular video was and faked all the numbers to trick content creators into video content because they were told that's what people wanted?
And now we have tons of people who can't read and are addicted to videos that are mostly fake bullshit?
Like, do you really think this was coincidence?
Oh hey there's a wiki page for it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pivot_to_video

@ginny
This kind of post makes me think my aversion to video format is a superpower

This latest social conditioning of putting the end of videos at the beginning and claiming it's because of attention spans does not fool me. I know they're doing it as the next step of conditioning people's brains to be unable to function in a healthy way.
I don't have any accounts on tiktok or youtube or anything, and now I can't even watch a random video about a cute cat or some shit without someone trying to rewire my brain.

@ginny the six-seven video scanning mimics our animal need to scan our environment for danger. Except with video we are exposed to "danger" in moving images over and over again causing our adrenaline and dopamine to spike in ways that are addictive and abusive. Meta knew this and purposefully engaged it against its users.

Training people's brains to be unable to delay gratification or follow narrative would inevitably make a lot of people prone to addiction while having difficulty processing information.
Which perfectly explains how this little change in video "content" is so fucking sinister.
"Screen time" is a nonsense term. Watch TV shows. Watch films. Watch documentaries. Just stay the fuck away from video "content".

@ginny I read this as a reminder of how many companies’ actions seem to correspond to the «dark triad» of psychological traits, actively manipulating and distressing their users/consumers. Highlights the need for «mental self-defence» to keep one’s head straight.
