Do I just say what it’s a picture of or do I specify that it is from a medieval manuscript?

(P.S. Just to be clear, I'm not someone who relies on a screen reader, but I am someone who has discussed this specific question before, here and elsewhere, in order to try and write better alt text myself.)

So perhaps something like "Illustration of six cistercian monks singing at a lectern, from the corner of a mediaeval manuscript".

(May not actually be from a corner. I was just guessing.)
