I already created a zone for one of my domains and will now see if I can use this for my homelab to expose public services.

Oh my this is excellent, just what I need this summer. I worked a bit on a barely maintained fork of an unmaintained ddns project and of course it was too much work to close the gap. Exactly the points he made in his comment. Thanks!
