This common frog (*Pelophylax kl. esculentus*) is a marvel of nature. Known as a "klepton" (from the Greek for "thief"), it is a hybrid that "steals" DNA from other species in order to reproduce. Its powerful vocal sacs act as external loudspeakers, allowing its song to be heard across the entire Bärensee.
