That is not the point. But we had more trees centuries ago, even if we would go back to that level, we would still have to deal with the surplus of CO2 we have added since that time.

Again, forests don't cool. Evaporation cools indeed, locally, but the resulting extra condensation warms in the same amount. On the global scale the cooling sum is zero. That's thermodynamics at work.

Also, trees die, and all the captured CO2 is released again when they do. Trees only temporarily hold CO2. It doesn't solve the problem.

We must cut down on CO2 emissions, fast. There is no natural way to deal with all the CO2 that has been released into the atmosphere. Myths that trees somehow deal with this problem are counter productive.

It is like dealing with a leaking roof. Yes, buckets capture water. But buckets are not a solution as long as the roof keeps leaking, and you have no means to empty the buckets. If the only way to empty the buckets is to topple them inside the house, it will not get your house any drier.

We have no way to empty the buckets full of CO2. It is scary. The solution is not "more buckets". We must stop filling these buckets, really fast.

Evaporation cools down locally. But what goes up must come down. What has evaporated will condense at some point, and condensation increases the temperature by a same amount as the evaporation decreased it. This is just physics, sorry.

And water vapor is a a green house gas, it traps heat.

I still think planting trees is good, but just not for cooling down the planet.

Really, the only solution is to reduce CO2 emissions. It is the only way.
