I was reading the last book in Stephen King's Dark Tower series while flying this week, and tears were falling (as I sniffled into my mask.) </p><p>I was thinking of books that made me cry. Four others came to mind: <br />The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck<br />The Road by Cormac McCarthy<br />Blackout/All Clear by Connie Willis<br />The Dog Stars by Peter Heller</p><p>What about you? Phillip Gulley's writing does this to me. (the harmony series and even some of his opinion articles). it's folksy and humourous, but real.  And sometimes the reality of his central Indiana characters, and their life twists puts me in
