In 1998 a group of hackers announced they could take down the internet in 30 mins.

Some things have changed since then. But a lot definitely hasn't. Just check e.g Shodan.

What HAS changed, is the pace at which we went from vulnerability disclosure, to exploitation in the wild.

We went from years, to months, to days, to hours *on average*.

I think infosec is going to take on a whole new shape in the next decade. The era of ignoring is past.
